Pawan Khera Hits Back at Rajnath Singh, Says Regime Change Is Opposition’s Goal

Pawan Khera challenges Rajnath Singh over regime change, targets the Election Commission on SIR and questions the BJP’s NDA support. Congress leaders reiterate their demand for political change through elections.

Congress leader Pawan Khera has hit back at Defence Minister Rajnath Singh’s remarks, asserting that changing the government and bringing about a regime change through elections are the opposition’s objective, foundation and responsibility. Khera said the opposition was advocating a change of power through democratic elections and argued that anyone angered by this position was acting against the Constitution.

“We are running the ‘Vote Chor, Gaddi Chhod’ campaign. The entire country is openly saying this. We are reiterating our intention to defeat this government and bring about regime change. Then why has Rajnath Singh stepped forward?” Khera said.

He maintained that the opposition’s purpose has always been to change the government through elections and alleged that the ruling side had become unaccustomed to democracy.

Responding to questions related to Bangladesh, Khera said the opposition had its own symbols and did not borrow symbols from others, unlike the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS). He claimed that a change of government was inevitable.

Pawan Khera Targets Election Commission Over SIR

Turning to the Special Intensive Revision (SIR), Khera said the Election Commission was under scrutiny and feeling nervous following the revelations. He alleged that lakhs of voters had been deprived of their voting rights in the Bihar and Bengal elections.

“The bus has already left. Gyanesh Kumar will have to go,” Khera said, targeting Gyanesh Kumar in his remarks on the Election Commission.

The Congress spokesperson also claimed that allies of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) in the National Democratic Alliance (NDA) could abandon the ruling party. He questioned how long Chandrababu Naidu, Eknath Shinde and the Janata Dal (United), or JD(U), would continue supporting the BJP.

Khera alleged that the system was slipping out of the government’s control and claimed that change had not taken place because several ministers had refused to resign. He further alleged that, despite pressure, the election commissioners had refused to hold a joint press conference.

Khera suggested that the opposition had conveyed a message to the government, saying, “We are not afraid of Home Minister Shah; your time is over.”

Khera Questions Arjun Ram Meghwal on Parliamentary Support

Reacting to Arjun Ram Meghwal’s statement, Khera said Meghwal had pointed out that a Bill required the support of two-thirds of the members present in Parliament to be passed.

Questioning the government’s position, Khera asked, “Why are you not telling the whole truth? Do you intend to kidnap the remaining MPs? You are a Rajasthani; state your intention proudly.”

He added that the INDIA alliance was in contact not only with its existing allies but also with parties and others outside the alliance.

Imran Masood Also Predicts Change in Government

Congress MP Imran Masood also asserted that the government would change. He questioned whether those in power were immortal and said no government could rule forever by capturing and dismantling constitutional institutions.

“Are you immortal? You cannot rule forever by capturing constitutional institutions and destroying them. This system will change,” Masood said.

Responding to Rajnath Singh’s remarks, Khera and Masood reiterated that changing the government and the existing system through elections remained the opposition’s objective. Their statements placed the focus on the opposition’s demand for political change, its allegations concerning the Election Commission and the support the BJP continues to receive from its NDA allies.
